New Mental Health Campus marks major milestone for 75+ year nonprofit
Napa, Calif. (March 5, 2025)— On Wednesday, March 5, Mentis gathered with community leaders, elected officials, donors, and supporters to celebrate the official launch of its new Wellness Campus. The Wellness Campus represents a major step forward in addressing the demand for mental health services in Napa County.
“Today, we officially open a campus that represents the future of community-based mental healthcare,” said Rob Weiss, Executive Director at Mentis. “A place where people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences can come to feel welcome and supported as they care for their mental health and well-being. Because of your dedication, we are breaking down barriers—financial, linguistic, logistical—ensuring that every member of our community has access to the care they deserve.”
Elected officials including Board Supervisors Amber Manfree, Belia Ramos, and Liz Alessio, City of Napa Vice Mayor Mary Luros, as well as representatives for Congressman Mike Thompson, Representative Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, and Board Supervisor Joelle Gallagher, were in attendance. Representatives from the Napa Valley Vintners and Kaiser Permanente, lead supporters of the project, were also present.
The Wellness Campus’ 12,000+ square feet allows Mentis to significantly expand its capacity and serve more Napa Valley residents. The new facility offers more therapy rooms as well as community art, exercise, and wellness spaces, serving as a centralized hub for a full scope of mental health resources, including both preventive wellness programs and mental health treatment.
The ribbon cutting ceremony marks a major milestone for the organization. Founded in 1948, Mentis has provided mental health services in the Napa Valley for over 75 years, pursuing consistent growth to keep up with an increasing local need for mental healthcare. This project began in December 2022 when Mentis received a $4.755 million grant from the State of California. Cornerstone donors include the Napa Valley Vintners, who have named the Napa Valley Vintners Youth Wing, and Kaiser Permanente, who have named the Kaiser Permanente Sport Court. Mentis hosted a groundbreaking ceremony in July 2024, with construction beginning the same afternoon.
At the same time, Mentis is facing new uncertainty as Federal and State-level funding priorities shift. In the coming months the agency will be engaged in strategic planning to identify new revenue sources that will sustain its vital programs.
