Our School-Based Programs in conjunction with local school districts in Napa Valley identify and provide counseling to children and teens in elementary, middle and high schools struggling with depression, violence, and family conflicts that are causing emotional, behavioral, and academic problems. We partner with student assistant programs in American Canyon, Napa, Calistoga, Howell Mountain, and St. Helena to ensure that students receive the professional help and support they need to feel and function better at home, school, and in the community. Our therapists work closely with the students and their families to address and resolve problems that are having a significant impact on high risk youth in Napa County.

Mentis’ Partnership with Teens Connect:

1 in 4 teens in Napa County report prolonged feelings of sadness or hopelessness. That’s twice the number of kids at Vintage High School. Mentis and Teens Connect came together to help with this growing issue. The program is two-part. The first part is called Teen World Café.  Teen World Cafés are conducted at middle schools and high schools in Napa County where teens meet in a safe environment on campus to discuss their personal sources of stress and anxiety. Middle schoolers meet with high schoolers and high schoolers meet with college students in a facilitated session. The feedback gives insight for the program leaders which students might benefit from participating in a professionally led mental health group. Group therapy is conducted during the school year and resources are suggested for one on one therapy if the teen and their family seek it.
